Have you ever noticed how monsters aren’t always visible?

Some hide behind smiles, quietly waiting for the pull

The movie Bird Box taught us that some minds break in the presence of unbearable truths

But to us, we are so used to it, so what do we have to lose?

Because we are the minds that's already living there

We are so use to the presence of the monsters everywhere

Yet the doctors label us as crazy

yet we tilt our chin up, show up, and be anything but lazy

we make our bed each day and put on our face

and we master the role of putting on a good chase

The chase that keeps us running, so we don't have to look behind

Of the monsters' shadows, scared of what we may find

But then again, the monster has lived far too long inside us to be feared anymore

So, we perform and we perform because it keeps the questions away.

So, we perform and we perform even though terror intrudes ours mind every day.

So, we perform and we perform because the world prefers a polished stage

Over the truth and complications behind someone’s rage

But behind the mask, textured and layered

Imprinted and scarred blended with moments we treasured

Including haunting memories packed like explosives

Not knowing boundaries or detecting dangerous motives

The Performers knows that faking fine is an art form

And sometimes, the easiest thing a performer can do is pretending to be the norm

Even though sometimes their intrusive thoughts try to convince them to stray

Telling them they don’t have to live another day.

But the wisest thing a performer can do, is to not wait for the arrival

The arrival of someone who will show up and make all the monsters go away

A secret trick in their mind that they can marvel

And recognize that they are the only one who can tame the monster

And have the wisdom to leverage strengths with them and become the master

Because the best performers, are simply those who have learned to turn their pain into power

They understand what's mine, what's yours, and what is ours

Because they know that you too, have monsters under your bed,

and sometimes we can stray and get misled

But that’s fine because aren’t we all just doing our best with what we have been presented with?

Because every performer knows that a perfect life is merely a myth.

Sincerely,

Suree
