The illness will not define me

Instead, it fuels the fire inside of me

I'll make it work, it won't take control

For I am the keeper of my soul.

I am not a victim, I won't bow

I stand in my power, here and now

I am not bipolar, don't mistake

I have bipolar, but I still create.

There's a difference, yes that's true

Between what goes on in my head, and what I choose to do

The monsters inside my head will not win

Because I know at my core, who I am within.

the illness chose me...yes...I can't deny

But I won't just sit back, and ask why

If storms must come, then let them blow

I'll rise above, I'll learn, I'll grow.

Through highs and lows, through dark and bright

I'll paint my pain with colors and light

This path is mine, though tough.... it's real

But I know that every scar, will help me grow and heal.

Sincerely,

Suree
